Summer Time Makeup Tips

Summer time is the time where the "less is more concept? applies! Not only does it apply for clothing, but especially for makeup! During the summer we should really take it easy with the products that we put on our skin, especially since we will be spending a lot of time out in the sun. Here are some summer time makeup tips to help keep our skin healthy.

Mineral Make-up
Make up, as fantastic and convenient as it is, has consequences. It is one of the leading causes of wrinkles and fine lines for women. Especially after years of heavy applications, your skin is not going to be how it used to be. It can clog pores which can cause bacteria to grow, eventually leading to pimples and black heads. What can we do to avoid this without giving up the usage ...

Permanent Cosmetic Makeup, Hidden Treasure or Lost Art?

Skin art has been discovered on the skin of Egyptian mummies dating back to 2000 B. C. Tools of the trade were soot, gunpowder, sharpened stones, and other primitive implements. Dermal pigmentation, commonly known as tattooing, has been present for centuries in our cultures for the purpose of body adornment. The implanting of pigments, colors, and/or dyes intradermally results in permanent alteration of tissue to gain a cosmetic effect.

America's Best Cosmetic Show

Extreme Makeover, a reality TV drama, captured America's attention last season and continues to do so.  It is not so difficult to understand why people are so fascinated by the show, since each patient goes through such a transformation that we have to admire the work done by cosmetic surgeon, cosmetic dentist, hair and fashion stylist along with makeup artist and personal trainer.

The show is far from the reality, since average American can not afford to hire a skilled makeover team.  That is why viewers are happy with watching someone go through a transformation, and keep a tiny hope alive for a future when it becomes affordable.

However, I think the show serves the audience a couple of lessons.  First one is to convince people what really matters eventually is not what a person look outside but what a person is inside, since you can change the look, but cannot change what's inside.  Secondly, we can all live better lives if we restore self-confidence.  The show portrays a person who is not only changed from the outside but also converted from inside with renewed confidence after cosmetic surgery.  It looks like makeover is money's worth if one can afford it.

Spring Skin And Makeup

Skin this spring is more dewy; the matte look is out. Go for soft, sheer, glowing, and feminine makeup. To achieve a low maintenance look, apply color on the eyes, flushed peachy cheeks, and glossy pink lips. It's about makeup that lets your natural beauty shine through. Bronzers (cream), lotions, or powders containing light reflecting particles can make the skin look more natural and enhance your complexion. Avoid using products that are very shimmery and those with a lot of color. Look for products with warm golden or peach tones and, for darker skin, peachy or coppery-bronze tones. If applied properly, what you'll get is a quiet gleam, very clean and natural looking, as if you're being illuminated by the most perfect soft lighting you can imagine.

The Truth About Lipstick
Pink glossy lips are in for spring and summer. The most popular is a glossy, soft, sheer shade with brighter hues like hot pink. A rule of thumb: If your lips are thin, avoid dark shades, since they make lips look narrower; a natural shade of gloss will make your mouth look fuller. Conversely, if your lips are very full, be judicious with the shine. Stuck with a color that seems too intense? Use a lip brush to mix it with a clear gloss.

It's All In The Eyes
The trend for this spring is color, and lots of it!
Black is out, baby blue is in, sheer but vibrant pastels for eyes, and middle eastern inspired colors. Remember that white, pink, and yellow eyeliner pencils tend to make the eye look open and brighter and blue counteracts redness. An expert tip: in order to make eyeliner easy to apply, manufacturers sometimes make it so creamy it doesn't stay put. You can use a matching eye shadow or powder liner to set your eyeliner.

Four Makeup Bag Must Haves:
1. Mascara: the easiest way to make your eyes pop.
2. Lipstick: the right lipstick has the power to transform.
3. Powder: the right powder creates a flawless finish for all skin types.
4. Moisturizer: regardless of skin type, moisturizer keeps skin supple and works as a primer under makeup.

The Truth About Blush
The key is to apply a very small amount. There are several types of blush available, so choose wisely:
Powder blush is best applied after your face powder. It will lie on top of the skin, adding a translucent glow. Cream blush has the most intense pigment and should be used sparingly. Apply it over foundation, but before powder. Liquid and gel blushes give you a stain of color that looks very natural. Apply over foundation or to bare skin for soft, fresh-scrubbed look.
